When the Stirring Becomes Quiet

Standard

I go among the trees and sit still.

All my stirring becomes quiet around me like water.

My tasks lie in their places

Where I left them, asleep like cattle.

Wendell Berry – I Go Among the Trees and Sit Still

Being in places of great beauty puts everything into perspective for me. It can be hard to get away, but the tasks that seem so important are still there waiting when I get back.

Nothing much has changed at home, but I am different. I am reminded that there is something bigger than me in the world. I am comforted by the vastness of creation that points to the vastness of the Creator.

So thankful for times of rest.  How about you?

Betsy

Be still and know that I am God.

Psalm 46:10
