  2. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and liking my “Dear God…” poem. I hope you’ll return and I look forward to reading through your blog, as well. It’s wonderful that you’ve had a career of writing for children. That has been one of my dreams, in fact, I believe there are some stories sitting on the back burner. It’s amazing how that back burner tends to get a bit crowded! :)

  3. Thank for liking my post. I am so humbled that other people read and even sometime like and comment to our site. It is an honor to serve such a great God. I have read some of your writtings they are very good I am now going to follow your site… May God Bless You….

  5. Hi. I am officially nominating your for a King of Kings Friendship Awardd. Pop over to my blog when you have a moment and read about it and grab a copy of the award image so you can post it on your own blog. Congrats! 6. Hi Betsy and Laurie

    Its Susie over at SPTP2011

In the beginning of my blog experience – I started out with a story called the Stupid Parents Trailer Park

This writing was about a group of retirees forced to live in the desert on “cheap land” because of the help they gave their families through the years

I started out with a concept for ?? – a book, script or play?

Then my writings changed and the Lord impressed upon me to change the name of my blog to SPTP2011 and write about Praising Him!

I have received another prodding (hopefully from the Spirit) to contact you both about the story line of Stupid Parents Trailer Park

I would like to have your input on the story. I would like to change some of the writing to include Scripture.

Also I am stuck at the “Next story-line” point because I am not versed in writing dialogue – especially men’s characters.

On my side-bar @ sptp2011 the archives go back to March of 2011 where the original story line began – the story runs until approximately the end of March and

stops when my writing began to change.

This story is a bitter-sweet story and Susie @ sptp says: We can either be stupid with bitterness or stupid with love … I choose Love!

If either of you are interested in a new story with twists and turns – please check it out

I will be interested to see if either of you feel the story can go “somewhere” or if I am just too immature of a writer.

    Thanking you in advance

    Susie

    • Dear Susie,

One of the first things I did when I started writing was join a critique group – not only did I get great suggestions for my work, but I had a wonderful support group, providing encouragement at times when it was badly needed. Writing is a lone profession and we need fellowship. So, I highly recommend this.

Don’t get sidetracked with whether a story will “go somewhere” or not. I have a drawer full of stories that still sit in the drawer. However … each of those stories contributed to the writer that I am today. Write whatever God is calling you to write today and leave the outcome to him.

Once when I was visiting a school, a child asked me, “What do you have to do to be a writer? Take special classes? go to college? What?” My answer: “There’s only one thing you have to do to be a writer … WRITE.”
Don’t label yourself – immature/mature, experienced/inexperienced, old/young etc. Labels restrict us and stifle our work. But there’s one label you can accept with gusto – WRITER.

      Susie, you are a writer!

  7. Thanks for “Liking” my post, Rejected, Again. I’m thrilled at knowing others, too, have experienced the “thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.” As long as we keep plugging away, perfecting our work, and trying to show up where we can be “discovered,” we have a chance, don’t we?

  8. I”m looking forward to spending some more time reading your blog posts. Thanks for stopping by “This, that and the other thing” recently. Since I’ve only been blogging for about a month and a half, it’s fun to have people come by and like what I’ve written. There are an amazing number of blogs about all sorts of things and not enough time to look at them all. I love children’s books and although our daughters are now in their 20′s, I have boxes of children’s and young adult books in the attic for whenever they might want them.

    Blessings on your blogging!

  9. Thank you so much for recently visiting my blog and liking one of my posts: Nature Insight: Side by Side.

I can see you do wonderful work and look forward to investigating further. Diane

  10. Hi Betsy and Laurie! Thanks for the recent “Like” on a few of my posts and for following my blog. I’ve enjoyed reading some of your more recent posts and look forward to sharing the journey. Blessings!

  11. Thank you for your encouragement in deciding to tag along with My Hmmm Collection. I will stick around a while to see what you are all about.
    Keep the Faith!

  12. Liked your post today about Tozer. I’m not a fundamentalist anymore but I still admire the “Tozer-variety” of fundamentalist thinkers. He offered life. There was somebody home with him and I still find that to be the case. Thanks very much.

  13. Hi Betsy and Laurie! Thank you for “liking” my blog on Our Comforter and for subscribing to follow my blog! I pray that God will continue to bless you through it as well as through your own writings! I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read on your blog and plan to come back often.

    God Bless!

  14. Whoa! Thanks for the follow! I am curious as to how you found me. Any idea? Your dog photos are awesome. Since I am a dog lover, they brought a smile to my day. Thank you for that!

  15. Greetings! Thanks for visiting… and thanks for the follow. Your blog looks fantastic and the content is very uplifting and inspiring. Can’t wait to see what y’all have in store for the future.

    Keep up the great work!

  16. Hi Laurie and Betsy,

No rush and no pressure.

Check out my blog soon to read more about it.
