Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.Amen

This prayer is one of my favourites. It was actually sung at my father’s funeral and it was so nice to come across it this morning. Thanks for posting it.
St Francis of Assisi is most inspiring and the words deep and wise. I am not religious and find these words an inspiration as well as soothing.
Thanks for a Monday morning pick me up. Keep safe hope you are not near super storm Sandy.
I love that we can learn from those with whom we don’t necessarily agree. Stimulates my thinking.
Perfect start for the week. I’m adding prayers that God would turn Sandy away from land but if not (and either way), that He would protect all those and everything in its path. We’re in NE Ohio, many, many miles away, and are experiencing constant rain with high wind warnings, so I can only imagine how it is where our younger daughter is in Philly and family and friends along the path of the storm.
Yes, shooting prayers up for those in Sandy’s path
I love this prayer…thanks for the reminder that we need to be salt and light!
Such a beautiful prayer, and photo! God bless you, Sisters–love, sis Caddo
One of my favourites also. Thanks for sharing.
