Glad I’m reading this on a Saturday morning, after I’ve been to the farmers’ market and when I have time to enjoy the tea I’m about to brew and a good book. This is so true, though, and “work through it” flows directly from this idea. Tangentially related in my mind is how when I’m feeling bad, I often get to work on something, which serves the dual purposes of getting my mind off feeling bad and accomplishing something that makes me feel good.
So true – I can’t tell you how many times I have started out with an idea or story but in the middle or by the end the idea makes a complete turn
God Bless

Inspiration comes to me when I am watching others work–like I could write a whole blog watching my husband preach on Sunday morning. I could write a good comment after reading a heartfelt blog or I get inspired to be a beekeeper when I saw yesterday how the bees are struggling with what agribusiness has done to their natural habitats. As I watch others, I get inspired. When I am in the midst of my work, I do not get any ideas. I simply do the next thing. Perhaps it is inspired, but it doesn’t seem so. I must think on this a bit. Thanks for the post.
While it’s very true that inspiration cannot come if you haven’t done the work, I find this quote sums up my experience:
“Your most brilliant ideas come in a flash, but the flash comes only after a lot of hard work. Nobody gets a big idea when he is not relaxed, and nobody gets a big idea when he is relaxed all the time.” – Edward Blakeslee
So I would say that inspiration usually comes ‘after’ work, or at least once you’ve given your brain a chance to relax a little. This is why we’re always getting ideas in the shower.
Oh, my gosh, that is so true! Guess I’d better get back to work. . ..
Me too

Yes, so true, focusing on something other than ourselves changes us

A true saying, this–and I, too, find that I often begin with one thought and watch it go its own way quite nicely. God bless you, Sisters!
I better get busy

This is just so perfect! I must share.
